Timely, online access to the results of research funded with public dollars ensures that our investment is maximized and that the pace of science is accelerated. It also means equitable access to high-quality peer-reviewed literature to all who may benefit. Public access is important to libraries of all sizes and has gained attention and support from many different groups on campus - including students.

At the next SPARC/ATA Web cast, Diane Graves, University Librarian at Trinity University (San Antonio), will talk about why she’s chosen to speak out with legislators, on campus, and among libraries in support of current public access legislation. Diane has invited Nick Shockey, Trinity Student Senator, to offer his views on the importance of public access and actions he’s taken to engage his fellow students. Heather Joseph, Executive Director of SPARC, will open the discussion with a brief introduction to the issue and an update on current policies.
